More about Legebitra

The association has evolved from an informal group called Legebitra that was founded as a project of the Student Organisation of University of Ljubljana in 1998 and enjoys trust of its target group for over 16 years.

We consider our work serious, professional, of quality and most of all devoted to the fields of LGBT human rights advocacy and youth social care services.

LGBT youth is one of the most vulnerable social groups due to stigma and discrimination based on personal circumstance of sexual orientation. Therefore we see it even more important to enable access to a support system which encourages them and positively influences their confidence and self-esteem, and motivates them to enagage in active citizenship – which is something we strive for in each and every of our programmes.

Employees of our association prove our professionality through our participation in diverse trainings in Slovenia and abroad. Our quality approach to work is, however, also proven in long-term partnerships with local as well as foreign organisations that trust us and cooperate with us for over a decade.

Our mission is to improve position of and relation to LGBT persons on diverse levels and in diverse fields of life in Slovenia. By ensuring a safe space and through dissemination of relevant and accurate information we aim to educate and raise awareness, while at the same time we also try to draw attention to inequalities in Slovenian society.
